Claude inspects layout
Claude views the full image, identifies the paper boundary, detects ink blocks, and decides whether a gap exists between content and signature.
Background whitening
A local illumination model separates ink from paper under uneven lighting. Paper becomes pure white (255, 255, 255), ink stays dark.
Gap removal & crop
If a blank gap is found, it's removed and sections are stacked. The image is cropped to the paper edge, removing desk and hand artifacts.
