Analyzing the image and whitening the background
How it works

Local illumination model
Computes local background brightness using a large Gaussian blur, separating ink from paper even under uneven lighting.

Background whitening
Maps each pixel's ratio to its local background: paper becomes pure white (255, 255, 255), ink stays dark.

Gap detection
Scans horizontally for large blank regions between content blocks. If a significant gap is found, it's removed.

Final cleanup
Near-white smudges are snapped to pure white. Ink gets a slight contrast boost so strokes stay solid and readable.
